Carlie Johnson | Online TEFL Course Instructor

Carlie Johnson

What's your role at International TEFL Academy?

I have taught theOnline TEFL/TESOL Certification Course since October 2014.

What is your educational background?

  • MA TESL Greenville College

  • MA Spanish Linguistics Middlebury College.

What is your favorite travel memory?

I have so many wonderful memories of living abroad, which makes it difficult to choose a favorite! However, Prague was one of my favorite cities, and I’ll never forget the beautiful Easter markets that I saw when I visited during the month of April. I also loved spending New Year’s Eve in Spain, where the tradition is to stuff twelve grapes in your mouth, one for each strike of the bell as the clock hits twelve midnight.

What countries have you visited?

Italy, Ireland, England, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, and Portugal. I also traveled within Spain from coast to coast and down to the Canary Islands.

What advice do you have for ITA students who want to teach English abroad?

My advice for ITA students who want to teach English abroad would be to wake up every day with an open mind, to try to get to know the locals, to make connections in the ex-pat community, and to travel every chance you get!
