Wayne Walker | Online TEFL Course Instructor

What's your role at International TEFL Academy?

I have taught the Online TEFL/TESOL Certification Course since June 2014.

What is your educational background?

BAs in mathematics and philosophy from Vanderbilt University; MA in TEFL/TESL from Colorado State University; TEFL Certificate from ITC International.

What's your favorite travel memory?

Too many to list, but three weeks driving a rental car around Ireland, England, and Scotland was perhaps my best overall trip.

What countries have you visited?

Austria, Budapest, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, United Kingdom.

What advice do you have for ITA students who want to teach English abroad?

Fight through the culture shock! The first month or two living abroad is great, but you can hit a wall after that and experience tremendous homesickness. That difficult stage won’t last very long, but it is worth enduring. Getting through that by making friends and learning the language was the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done, and it can be for you too.
