My husband and I spent a month in Guatemala learning Spanish in an intensive program.  We stayed in Antigua for three weeks and lived with a local family.  Our school was in a beautiful colonial building and we had one-on-one Spanish classes, sitting in the garden courtyard.  After these three weeks, we went to Lake Atitlan and studied for another week there.  We fell in love with this incredible country and the wonderful people!

Go for it!  There are so many opportunities for you to grow professionally and as an individual in classrooms around the world.  Be open to all that your students have to teach you about their country, culture, and language, and don’t be afraid to explore the countries in your vicinity.
