I teach the 11-week online TEFL course.
I did my undergrad at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and majored in Psychology. I have an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language from Colorado State University and an M.S. in Leadership and Organizations from the University of Denver.
I taught English at an elementary school in Bangkok, Thailand for one year. Most of my other teaching experience has been with adults. I taught Freshman Composition at a GTA for two years at Colorado State University. I also taught general English classes and English for teachers at a private university in Turkey. For the past ten years, I have been teaching English at the intensive English program at the University of Denver, working with international students to help them prepare for university-level classes that will be taught in English.
Australia, Cambodia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, The Philippines, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Vietnam.
My favorite travel memory is backpacking through SE Asia after I finished my teaching contract in Thailand. I met a lot of amazing people whom I traveled with for portions of that trip. I was able to see big portions of many different countries by traveling on the cheap. Probably my favorite single experience from that trip was snorkeling with whale sharks in The Philippines!
Do it! You might be feeling scared about moving somewhere that is unknown. However, you will not regret it! You will become so much more self-reliant and get to know yourself better!
