What does this Teach & Study in Rome Program Entail?

The Teach & Study Visa Program in Rome, Italy, allows individuals to legally reside in Rome while teaching English and studying Italian (with the option to also take your TEFL course in Rome)

  • The program offers a Student Visa with 7, 9, or 12-month duration options.
  • Student Visa allows participants to legally work as an English teacher at local language centers for 20 hours per week (it is also possible to work additional hours teaching English online or to private students).
  • All participants receive job search guidance in Rome to gain employment as English teachers, including a guaranteed interview at ITA's partner language school. 
  • Participants typically earn up to  €1,500 ($1,700 USD) per month, which more than covers typical monthly expenses of  €1150. 
  • Teacher Development in Rome: Your first month in Italy kicks off with an essential, month-long Teacher Development Course (60 hours of professional development!), specifically tailored for teaching in Italian classrooms.  This includes 3 hours of observed teaching practice with real Italian students at our TEFL school in Rome.

Italian Language Classes in Rome, Italy

Options for Enrolling in Italian Classes
& Getting a Student Visa in Rome, Italy

ITA's Teach & Study Programs in Rome provide a viable and legal option for non-Europeans to teach English in Rome, Italy, while taking language classes in Italian. You can choose whether you wish solely to study Italian (if you already have a TEFL certification) or to get TEFL-certified in Rome. Both of these options include Italian classes and will give you the chance to get paid to teach English legally (20 hrs a week)

NOTE: The program includes pre-Visa appointment Italian classes to ensure you have the B1 level and are eligible for the Visa.  A B1 Level fluency in the Italian language is required to teach English on this visa in Rome.

Option A: Rome - Language Study Visa Program 

Questions to consider before selecting this option:
  • Are you planning to take ITA's 11-week or intensive online TEFL Course? Are you an ITA graduate?
  • Are you already TEFL certified and want to make money teaching English while studying in Italy?

This course is designed for anyone who is TEFL-certified and interested in studying Italian in Italy on a student visa for 7-12 months while teaching English. You must be TEFL certified and have at least a B1 Level Italian proficiency. Enrolling in this program will make sure you meet these requirements if you're not ready!

  • Guidance in applying for your Student Visa.
  • 3 months of fully virtual Italian language classes to be eligible for a visa (10-20 hours per week). The classes are delivered by Innovation Campus.
  • Language classes will be held at our Language School Partner. 10 hours per week in class from Mon to Fri from 10am to 12pm + 10 hours/week self-study.  Course will also offer cultural excursions and tours. Airport pickup is possible for a fee.
  • Spend your first month renting from our partner, and then they’ll assist you with finding long-term housing.
