I grew up wanting to travel around the world. When I was 20 years old I boarded my first airplane. I spent the next four months studying abroad in Thailand and traveling around Southeast Asia. Not long after returning from Asia I started to feel a little restless and began looking into ways to travel again after graduation. I’ve since lived in Germany and South Korea and traveled to places in between in Europe, Asia, and Africa.

My sister and I took a long train ride in Myanmar. The train was full of locals who were pretty dismayed we didn’t have tickets to sit in the first class car. Once everyone realized we weren’t going anywhere, they were so incredibly friendly. Before long, the family of five across from us was sharing their dinner with us and crowding around my camera going through every picture I had, smiling every time they came across a picture of me or my sister, and pointing from the screen to our faces and back to the screen again laughing.
You don’t have to speak the same language to connect with people. Traveling is such a wonderful way to meet people who have completely different experiences from you, speak different languages, and come from different circumstances, but who can make you smile such genuine smiles.
I love traveling – and I love helping others travel.
