International TEFL Academy Announces $ 20,000 in Scholarships to Striking Chicago Public School Teachers

International TEFL Academy of Chicago, one of the world’s largest teacher training schools for TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) offers support to the Chicago Public School teachers on strike by offering $ 20,000 in scholarships to enroll TEFL certification classes.

These classes provide training, certification, and job search guidance to teach English abroad in up to 100 countries around the world.

ITA is offering one full scholarship for every school day that teachers are on strike for up to 10 school days.  Scholarships will be claimed on a first-come first-serve basis. TEFL class redemption will be accepted until August 31, 2014.  Class Dates are listed here.

Full scholarships will be awarded for:

Five slots in Chicago TEFL classes (tuition value is $ 1,995; classes are 4 weeks fulltime, Monday – Friday).

Eight slots in 170-Hour Online TEFL classes (tuition value is $ 1,350; classes 11 weeks part time, with a flexible schedule to accommodate those working full-time).

Once the full scholarships have been claimed, any additional CPS teacher may receive a 50% scholarship discount off TEFL class tuition if they register in the month of September for any future classes.  These scholarships are available for the Chicago TEFL class or 170-Hour Online TEFL class

Proof of CPS credentials:  A full or partial scholarship requires official documentation of current CPS employment as a teacher, which may include a school ID, contract or pay stub.

*Full scholarships are limited to two spots for each class start date.

The deadline for this is October 31, 2012
