MEET THE ITA STAFF

Andrew Hines | Admissions Advisor

What's your role at International TEFL Academy?

I work at ITA as an Admissions Advisor.

What's your story?

After finishing college I returned to Chicago to work for an IT company. Although I hated my daily routine of sitting in a cubicle, I spent more than 2 years at that company. One day I decided enough was enough, got TEFL certified with the International TEFL Academy and moved to Busan, South Korea. I am so so happy I did and I wish I had done it sooner. After a year in Korea I am back in Chicago helping people achieve their dreams of traveling and living abroad!

Where are you from, where did you go to college & what did you major in at college?

Born and raised in Chicago, I went to the University in Kansas where I studied political science...but let's be real I had no clue what the heck I wanted to do with my life.

What countries have you visited?

Italy, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Cuba, Spain, England, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Indonesia, Thailand, Dominican Republic.

Describe your first experience traveling abroad

I did some traveling with my family growing up, but my first experiencing traveling solo was a backpacking trip through Europe when I was 25. It sparked my love for travel and inspired me to find a way to live abroad... which is one big reason I started teaching English!

Long term travel experience?

The only time I have lived abroad for an extended period of time was when I was teaching in South Korea.

What is your favorite international cuisine?

This is an impossible question, but I have to go with Mexican. Nothing beats good tacos.

Why do you like working at ITA?

Making money while traveling abroad is not just a dream...it’s actually extremely doable. I have the opportunity to help people realize this every single day. To me, that’s really cool.
