Watch these 5 tips to create great videos for International TEFL Academy!

Below are some important things to consider when shooting your video in order for it to come out well. The first and second bullet points are super important!

  1. Lighting: Shoot your footage in a well-lit area.

  2. Sound: Find a quiet area (no loud cars, dogs barking, music in the background). Make sure we can hear and understand you. Shut the doors and windows if you need to. Speak clearly in a conversational tone. We all get nervous and speak quickly, but you can always hit delete and shoot this again! Most people practice first off camera and then re-shoot it a few times.

  3. Attire: Please dress appropriately and try to look presentable. No shirt, no service!

  4. Video recording devices: Just about anything: your camera, smart phone, webcam, flipcam, etc. Just make sure the lighting and sound are good.

  5. Locations: You can shoot from anywhere on location: Great Wall of China, Panama Canal, classroom (in front or outside), in your apartment. Sound quality is key.

  6. Movement of camera: Use a tripod or put the video device on something stationary while shooting the Q&A. If someone holds the camera, it might shake and look like an earthquake movie! While shooting on location, i.e. on a rickshaw, camel, scooter through the streets of Bangkok, having someone hold it is fine though, as it adds to the fun!

Suggestion:  Do a 30 second test shot of yourself and review it.

  • Does it look and sound good?
  • Is there grape jelly on your face?
