  • MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago

Where have you taught abroad?

Thailand: Burapha University and Kurdistan, Northern Iraq.

What countries have you visited?

Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Greece, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Nepal, Iraq, and Turkey.

What's your favorite travel memory?

I have many good travel memories, but one of my favorites is visiting Lombok, Indonesia. We climbed a volcano, camped under the stars, explored the beaches, dined with the locals, and met many wonderful people.

What advice would you have for ITA students who want to teach English abroad?

Making an effort to learn some of the local language will give you more independence and opportunities to explore and engage with the culture. Learning a language can be tough, but it will also help you better relate to your students!
