A native of Carbondale, CO, Tommy Joiner has relocated to Medellin, Colombia after completing his Online TEFL Class and teaching English in South Korea for 14 months.

In this video, Tommy describes various aspects of life & teaching English in Medellin, Colombia, from the climate to the cost of living. A graduate student at a local university in Medellin, Tommy gives private English lessons. Tommy explains that Colombia represents a largely undiscovered job market for English teaching and that Medellin offers a high standard living with a fantastic climate, great nightlife and many opportunities to learn Spanish and interact with the local population.

Often over-shadowed by its much larger and more famous neighbors, Argentina and Brazil, the South American nation of Uruguay represents an up-and-coming job market for teaching English in Latin America. It is also one of the most economically prosperous nations in the region, and provides a wealth opportunities to discover regional culture, cuisine and history.

In this new alumni video, International TEFL Academy graduate, Adria Baebler, of St. Louis, MO, shares her experiences living and teaching English in Montevideo, Uruguay.  She discusses her TEFL class in Chicago and various aspects of her life as an English teacher.

International TEFL Academy graduate, Shelby Seavers, 37, of Jackson, Tennessee, shares her insights and experiences earning her TEFL certification in Nicaragua and teaching English in Leon. A graduate of the University of Memphis (journalism), Shelby discusses how she came to discover the opportunities of teaching in Nicaragua and the rewards of participating in International TEFL Academy's Volunteer Program in Nicaragua, which provides opportunities to ITA Alumni to teach and work with disadvantaged street children in the historic city of Leon. Today Shelby works for International TEFL Academy-Nicaragua as an advisor and continues to work with street children.
